Manchester United

There are countless memorable seasons and moments in Man United's history, as they have been eternal champions from their very moment of inception. 1998/1999 was a spectacular football season, not only because Fiorentina almost won the Italian Serie A, but also because Manchester United famously achieved an unprecedented Treble (Premier League, FA Cup and Uefa Champions League (last edition of the old format)), which was absolutely unheard of in football history back then, though there have been quite a few more such trebles in recent years (Barca, Bayern, Inter etc). I feel obliged to pay homage to that famous team which will live forever in football folklore:

Peter Schmeichel

Gary Neville

David Beckham

Tomas Repka

Jaap Stam

Roy Keane

Paul Scholes

Dwight Yorke

Andy Cole

Dennis Irwin

Ryan Giggs

What can we say about Manchester United? I am not a Man United fan, unlike many people in the world. In fact, I would go as far to say that I do not particularly like them, like many people in the world. Nonetheless, I do admire their consistent success over the decades (from Matt Busby to Sir Alex Ferguson etc; let's hope that they re-emerge soon (or maybe not...!) from the post-Ferguson depression, though this may be wishful thinking).

This may have been the most successful team in terms of achievements in a single season, though there have been many more amazing teams in Man United's history, and my all-time favourite formation would probably consist of the following players (I am open to objections here!):

Peter Schmeichel

Gary Neville

David Beckham

Tomas Repka

Jaap Stam

Roy Keane

Paul Scholes

Dwight Yorke

Andy Cole

Dennis Irwin

Ryan Giggs
